AMSOIL is the First In Synthetics.  They were the first to introduce synthetic oils to the automotive industry over 30 years ago and they remain the first in product performance and protection.

How Does AMSOIL Compare to Other Major Brands?

Amsoil Synthetic 10W-30 and 10 competing brands were subjected to a series of API (American Petroleum Institute) motor oil tests.  Each oil went through a series of 7 industry standard tests, such at the four-ball wear test and cold cranking simulator.  Amsoil came first in all but one test (in that one it came a close second).

Amsoil proudly displays these test results on its product containers, boxes, website and literature.  No other oil company publishes their results so freely.

How does AMSOIL Compare to Mobil1?

Mobil1 is commonly misunderstood to be the best synthetic oil out there.  It is heavily advertised and promoted because it is made by one of the biggest oil companies in the world.  It is probably the first brand that comes to mind for many people.  Mobil does make a good oil, compared to everything else on the shelf.  However, it is still not as good as Amsoil.  Their oils are made for standard drain intervals and Amsoil is designed for extended intervals.  Their oil is not as good because it doesn't have to be.

Amsoil set out to prove this so they put the two oils up against each other in a series of five benchmark tests and Amsoil beats Mobil1 in each of them.  You can be assured that if there wasn't any truth to these results, Mobil would have disputed it as soon as it came out.
