Chevrolet Camaro, 1998-02

To reset the OIL CHANGE light, press and hold the TRIP/OIL RESET button on the instrument panel for 12 seconds. When the light flashes and then goes out, the system is reset.


Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo, 2000-05

Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHG OIL SOON light flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle. If the CHG OIL SOON light comes back on, the system has not reset, repeat the procedure. Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System using the DE 100 Series Radio®. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and the radio off. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed. Press the SEEK up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu. Scroll until OIL LIFE appears on the display. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second. Once the message has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime will be heard to verify the exit.


Chevrolet SSR, Impala, Monte Carlo, 2006

Press the fuel information button until ENGINE OIL LIFE appears on the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the select button. The engine oil life percentage will return to 100. Turn the key to OFF. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.


Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx 2004-06; 2006 HHR, Cobalt, Pontiac G6, Solstice

Turn ignition to run engine off. Display OIL LIFE RESET in the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the ENTER button for at least one second. An ACKNOWLEDGED’ display message will appear for three second or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.


Chevrolet Lumina 1996-01, Monte Carlo 1996-99

Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on for five seconds, repeat the procedure.


Chevrolet Impala, Caprice, 1995-96

To reset the “CHANGE OIL” light, turn the ignition switch to the RUN position with the engine off. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal three times in 5 seconds. The light will flash twice and go out.


Chevrolet Impala, Caprice, 1994

To reset the “CHANGE OIL” light, turn the ignition switch to the RUN position with the engine off. Access the reset button on the end of the instrument panel by the fuse block. Press the switch and hold it for at least 5 seconds.


Chevrolet Corvette, 1990-96

After an oil change or when “CHANGE OIL” appears on Trip Monitor, with the ignition on and engine off, press ENG MET (A) button (located on Trip Monitor) once. Press ENG MET (A) button again within 5 seconds. Within 5 seconds, press and hold RANGE (B) button (1990-94) or GAUGES button (1995). The light will flash. When it stops flashing and goes out, the system is reset. If this does not occur within 10 seconds, repeat the procedure.


Chevrolet Corvette, 1997-05

Turn the ignition to ON. Press the TRIP button on the Driver Information Center (DIG) switch to view various menu choices and stop on OIL LIFE REMAINING. A message will display the percentage of oil life remaining. Press and hold the RESET button on the DIG switch for at least 2 seconds. A message will display the percentage of oil life remaining as 99 percent. The engine oil life monitor is now reset. Turn the ignition OFF.


Chevrolet Corvette 2006

To reset the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message after an oil change. Press the TRIP button so the OIL LIFE percentage is displayed. Press RESET and hold for two seconds. OIL LIFE REMAINING 100% will appear. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.


Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL, 2000-05 Chevrolet GMC Trucks Silverado, Sierra, 1999-05 Chevrolet Venture 2000

Turn the ignition key to the RUN position. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON light flashes 2 times, the system is reset. However if the light comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, the system did not reset. Repeat the procedure if the system does not reset.


GMC Denali, Envoy, Sierra, Yukon, Chevrolet Suburban, Silverado 2006

To reset the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message, turn the ignition key to RUN with engine OFF. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times with in five seconds. If the OIL LIFE RESET message flashes for 10 seconds, the system is resetting. Turn the key to LOCK.


Chevrolet Uplander, 2005-06 Chevrolet Venture 2001-05

With the ignition key in RUN but the engine off, repeatedly push the trip/reset button until OIL is displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIG). Once “OIL” is displayed, push and hold the trip/reset button for five seconds. The number will disappear and be replaced by 100 (indicating 100% oil life remaining). Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.


Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon 2004-06

Always reset the engine oil life to 100% after every oil change. It will not reset itself. To reset the “CHANGE OIL” message, do the following:

Display the OIL LIFE’ on the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the reset stem. The oil life will change to 100% and a beep will sound. Turn the key to LOCK. If the ‘CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
