Turn the ignition
to ON, with the engine off. Fully depress and release the
accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds. The reset
is complete when you hear the chimes and the “CHANGE OIL” light goes
out. If the light stays on and no chime is heard, you will need to
repeat the reset procedure. Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE
ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the
engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

Bravada, Silhouette wI(DIC) Driver Information Center
With the
ignition key in RUN but the engine off, repeatedly push the
trip/reset button until “OIL” is displayed on the Driver Information
Center (DIC). Once “OIL” is displayed, push and hold the trip/reset
button for five seconds. The number will appear and be replaced by
100 (indicating 100% oil life remaining). Turn the key to OFF. If
the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your
vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the
procedure.

Turn the ignition
to the ON position, engine OFF. Press the RESET button and release.
The CHANGE OIL indicator will start flashing. 2000-03
— Press and
release the RESET button again. 1999 — Press and hold RESET button
until audible chime is heard and then release.

Intrigue, 2000-02
Turn the ignition
to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the
accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHANGE OIL
SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the
key off after the the light has finished flashing, then start the
vehicle. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indictor comes back on, the engine
oil life monitor has not reset. Repeat the procedure again. If the
vehicle is equipped with the U20 option code, the vehicle as an oil
life low indicator. The oil life low indicator shows an estimate of
the oil’s remaining useful life. When the oil life index is less
than 10 percent, the display will show OIL LIFE LOW. To reset the
oil life monitor, press and hold the MODE button until the light
appears next to OIL LIFE. Press and hold the trip RESET button until
the oil life percentage changes to 99 percent.
Oldsmobile Aurora,
1995-99
To reset OIL LIFE message, press the ENG. button with the
ignition on until OIL LIFE percentage is displayed. Press the RESET
button for 5 seconds. RESET will appear and then OIL LIFE 100%.

2001-03
With ignition on,
press select right arrow button on Driver Information Center (DIC)
to oil life % is displayed. Press reset and hold for five seconds.
Oil life 100% will appear and then when the button is released oil
life 100% will be displayed. Turn ignition off.

Eighty-Eight, Ninety-Eight, Regency, 1994-97
When CHANGE OIL NOW is
displayed, press the RESET button. Press SEL — to select OIL. Press
SEL to display the oil life. Press and hold RESET for 5 seconds. A
RESET message should display with oil life changed to 100%.

Eighty-Eight, 1992-93; Ninety-Eight, 1991-93
Press and release the
TEST button on the Driver Information Center. This will illuminate
“CHANGE OIL NOW” if it is not already. Press and release the OIL or
OIL INDEX button. Next, press the RESET button and hold for at least
7 seconds.

Toronado, Troféo, 1991 w/o CRT Display
To reset “OIL LIFE INDEX”,
press the 2 OPTIONS button: three times if vehicle is equipped with
a phone and compass; two times if vehicle is equipped with a phone
or compass; once if equipped with neither. While “OIL LIFE INDEX” is
displayed, press and hold RESET/ENTER key at bottom right of the 15
button switch for 5 seconds.

Other Models, 1989-93, w/Driver Information System
When “CHANGE OIL
NOW” appears on Driver Information System or if you want to reset
Information System “OIL LIFE INDEX” to 100%, press OIL (A) button
until an oil message is displayed (if it is not already). Next,
press RESET (B) and OIL (A) buttons at the same time and the “OIL
LIFE” will be reset to 100% and “CHANGE OIL NOW” will be erased.

Toronado, Troféo, 1989-92 w/CRT
After changing
oil, press the INFO (A) button to the right of the screen. Next,
touch the area on the screen titled “OIL LIFE”. Date of the last oil
change and a bar graph will appear on the screen. Touch the area on
the screen titled “RE-SET” (B). You will be asked if you have
changed the oil. Touch the area on the screen titled “YES” and the
system will reset the graph to 100% and update the oil change
information to the current time and mileage.

Toronado, Troféo, 1989-90 w/o CRT Display
When “CHANGE OIL”
appears above speedometer or when you want to reset “OIL LIFE INDEX”
to 100%, press ENG DATA (A) button until an oil message appears on
message center (if it does not do so already). Then press the ENG
DATA and RESET/ENTER (1990) or ENG DATA and GAGE (1989) buttons at
the same time. “OIL LIFE INDEX” will reset to 100% and “CHANGE OIL”
will be erased.
