Volvo 240, 1987-89
When “SERVICE”
light is illuminated, reach behind instrument panel and push lever
(A) located between tachometer and speedometer.

Volvo 740,
1986-88; 780, 1988-90
When “SERVICE” light is illuminated, reach
behind the instrument panel and press button (A) located to right of
the speedometer.

Volvo 240, 1990-93
740, 1989-92; 760, 1986-90; 850 1993-95 w/Yazaki Cluster*, 940,960,

When “SERVICE”
light is illuminated, remove cap on face of instrument panel between
clock and speedometer. Insert a thin bladed tool into cavity and
press reset button (A).

needle. To reset Service Reminder Indicator, turn ignition on with
engine not running. Access the diagnostic unit located on the left
fender well under the hood. Connect the single wire plug to terminal
#7. Press the reset button four times shortly. When the LED glows,
press the button once. When the LED glows steadily again, press the
button five times. When the LED glows steadily again, press the
button once. After the LED gives a couple of rapid flashes, the
system is reset. Unplug the connector and turn the ignition off.

Volvo 850,
1996-97; S, V70, 1998-02; S80, 1999-02
Service reminder
lamp must be reset with either a Scan Tool connected to the Data
Link Connector (DLC), or connect a Volvo Reset Tool (J-42507) to the
DLC and press the button on the tool to reset.
Volvo 1998-04 C70,
2000-04 V40 Ignition off. Press in trip odometer reset button.
Switch on ignition. Continue pressing in the reset button for 10
seconds. Release reset button within 4 seconds.
Volvo 2002-04;
V70, XC7O, XC9O, S40, S60, S80
Ignition position
I. Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer.
Ignition position II. NOTE: TURN THE KEY TO POSITION II WITHIN 2
SECONDS! Hold the reset button for the trip odometer pressed in
until the original value has been reset. The information lamp
lights when the reset button must be released.
Release the reset
button for the tnp odometer within 4 seconds. The instrument gives
an audible signal
when resetting has succeeded. If the trip odometer is
already reset, the rest button must be
held in for a minimum of 10 seconds and
a maximum of 14 seconds.
